Growing Up in Hobe Sound

 

An authentic Florida native, Sue was born in Stuart – at Martin Memorial Hospital – and has been enjoying small-town experiences and sharing memories for nearly seven decades. Living across the street from what is now known as Apollo School, and growing up in the company of her parents, owners of Diamond Transfer and Garage, and siblings, Sue has a unique perspective of the community of Hobe Sound and its generations of residents.

Speeches will be given from 7-8 p.m. at the Apollo School, 9141 S.E. Apollo Street, Hobe Sound.

The Apollo School Foundation proudly presents our first series of art classes for children ages 5-10 (parents should plan on staying with their child/children).  The first class is Art: Make Your Mark - it's an art adventure as we make a mixed-media piece by beginning with a dot!  Cost is $3.00 per child, payable at the door.  Please RSVP Here.

BACH'S CHILDREN MUSIC SCHOOL'S SENIOR CHAMBER ENSEMBLE

Sunday, April 22, 2018 - 3:00 p.m.

 

The Apollo School Foundation is proud to present violinists Devyn Garton, Andrea Lora; violist Arianna Joiner, and cellist Erick Lora, the Senior Chamber Ensemble at Bach's Children Music School, who will perform during an afternoon of chamber music at the historic Apollo School on Sunday, April 22.  This is an opportunity to hear music by Mozart, Dvorak and Golofeev, performed by the talented students of Peggy O'Neill.  This is a free event, open to the public.  Following the performance, light refreshments will be served.  For more information, please call (772) 266-8636.

PICTURE CITY CULTURE CLUB - Next Meeting

Monday, May 14, 2018, 6:30 p.m.

 

The Apollo School Foundation is pleased to invite you (and any of your friends) to the next meeting of the PICTURE CITY CULTURE CLUB, "your ticket to lifelong learning."  We will be discussing the book, "The Radium Girls" by Kate Moore and the next selection will be announced.

 

In addition to being a traditional book club, the PICTURE CITY CULTURE CLUB also plans to schedule additional cultural activities as desired.  The second meeting will be held:

The plan is to schedule meetings the 2nd Monday every other month for book discussion.  The Club is FREE and open to ALL!

MARTIN COUNTY HISTORIC PRESERVATION MONTH

Saturday, May 19, 2018, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

 

In recognition of Historic Preservation Month in Martin County, the Apollo School Foundation invites you to stop in anytime from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018 to hear from some old-timers what it was like to grow up in Hobe Sound.  Light refreshments will be available.  Free and open to the public.
